Kristy Matala, Ph.D.

Kristy Matala’s specialty is in the area of forensic assessment.  She has worked in correctional and public hospital settings, performing civil and criminal evaluations.  She has experience working with a variety of clients, including those with severe mental illness and personality disorders.  She has also provided psychological assessments for children and adolescents.  

Dr. Matala received her B.A. from West Virginia University and her M.A. in clinical psychology at the University of Louisville.  She was awarded her Ph.D. in December 2008 from the University of Louisville. She recently completed her internship at Dorothea Dix Hospital on the forensic pre-trial evaluation unit. During her internship, Dr. Matala completed evaluations regarding a defendant's capacity to proceed to trial and mental status at the time of their offense. She currently has over two years of experience working with social services agencies throughout North Carolina providing court-ordered evaluations.

Dr. Matala provides psychological evaluations for adolescents and adults, and Child and Family Evaluations. She is available to the Department of Social Services, private clients, the court system, and other associated agencies.
